National Recycling Awards

On 6th December Trutex won the National Recycling Awards in the category, Circular Economy for the initiative RE:FORM, our quality second-hand service helping retailers, schools, parents and students recycle their pre-worn uniform.

The MRW National Recycling Awards are the most prestigious awards in the recycling and resource management sector, with winning projects and teams rightly recognised for their achievements within the industry, and we were delighted to be named a winner for such an award.

The results of the MRW National Recycling Awards were revealed at the Westminster Park Plaza, London. The night of recognition and celebration of the sector’s achievements saw around 500 attendees come together from the recycling industry. It was hosted by stand-up comedian Angela Barnes, a TV and radio star who has appeared in Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo.

The judges commented: “An outstanding new scheme and business model, for which there is demand and good uptake. This offers positive environmental and social benefits as well as great potential for further roll-out and development.”

Matthew Easter, Group CEO of Trutex Ltd picked up the award and commented: “We are incredibly proud to have won a MRW National Recycling Award, as we have been working to refine this initiative for the past 18 months, allowing parents to gain access to a quality second hand uniform provision. It is important to us to work with all our partner retailers and schools to tackle sustainability in clothing as well as providing affordable, quality second hand uniform that creates no stigma to the parents purchasing or students wearing the uniform. Winning the award is a reflection of the strength of the scheme and supports our efforts in tackling affordability and sustainability with quality uniform for the schoolwear market.”

With 20 categories, the awards cover every aspect of the industry, from Recycling Excellence to Local Authority Success.

Corin Williams, editor of MRW, said: “How the UK deals with its resources is one of the most pressing issues of our age."

“The MRW National Recycling Award winners have all demonstrated their ingenuity and effectiveness in preventing waste and reusing or recycling materials."

“If we want to reach our net-zero targets, develop more secure supply chains and take care of our environment, we should take note of these winners. They are leading the way.”

Well done team!
